pop-up gallery 1

The Pop Up Gallery 1 is situated on the lower ground level adjacent to the main gallery. The space is available for short-term hire for exhibitions, workshops, book launches, business meetings, lectures, poetry readings, musical soirees and much more.

Measuring approximately 45 square metres this versatile space has been sectioned off from the Art and Design Centre to provide an intimate but spacious gallery for artisans to conduct exhibitions at their own pace. As part of the Milk Factory Gallery, the Pop-Up Gallery benefits from having regular visitors from Sydney, Canberra and Wollongong who visit monthly to view major exhibitions.

Unlike other pop-up spaces where the artist has to be available, we are here at the Milk Factory Gallery 7 days per week and can man your exhibition for you at no additional cost.

artist testimonials

“I highly recommend the Pop Up Gallery at the Milk Factory Gallery, it is a superb space for all sized works with an easy hanging system and spot lighting; plinths and centred ‘gallery’ seating makes the Pop Up space even more welcoming and professional.  The main gallery and gallery shop keeps the traffic flowing allowing constant engagement with the public.  Shirley and Jim are highly experienced, professional and helpful in every way.

There is plenty of free car parking next to the Milk Factory Gallery with specific signage in prime spots around Bowral so it cannot be missed.  The gallery is central and close to the train station.  I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with this iconic facility.”

“In November this year I had a very successful exhibition at the Milk Factory PUG,
Bowral. Shirley and Jim gave me every assistance with promotion and their expertise for marketing assisted me greatly. I can highly recommend the Milk Factory PUG, the gallery is bright, inviting and a lovely intimate space.  Thank you again Shirley and Jim”

“Shirley and Jim provide a great service for artists by offering The Milk Factory PUG for hire. Although the Pop – Up Gallery is the  artist’s responsibility to manage, Shirley and Jim were always  approachable and happy to offer advice if requested.
Thanks so much for your support during the time I was there, it was much appreciated”

“I have work as an artists for over 50 years and exhibited in three different countries and have found, as a broad rule, that the relationship  between artist and galleries is often complex and at times difficult that is why it was such a pleasant surprise to discover, in 2014 the Milk Factory Gallery in Bowral.

I have exhibited twice at the Milk Factory and am planning another exhibition for October 1 thru the 14th. I have done so  because first off Shirley and Jim are easy to work with and true  to their word. Second, The Milk Factory is well known and respected throughout the Southern Highlands and I suspect across NSW.  And thirdly because I always enjoy seeing the works presented  throughout the gallery and am very happy to have my work  hung with such quality work.

It is my hope that Shirley and Jim continue to offer their Pop-Up Gallery space to struggling, emerging and established artists. The space has been of considerable benefit to the artists and the community.”

Pop-Up Gallery was a wonderful experience!  While selling many paintings was a great outcome, I also really enjoyed talking to visitors as I painted most days during the exhibition. The gallery space was ideal for a solo exhibition and provided space
to conduct a small workshop and also sell my cards and unframed work.  Shirley and Jim were most helpful and have created a wonderful gallery where I was honoured to exhibit my work.”
