I would describe my work as decorative organic shapes inspired by nature, which are made from sustainably sourced beautiful Australian timbers that reflect my interest in surface texture contrast and form, and the personal responses I have to them.
When I am working with wood, I will generally have a predetermined shape in mind, but as the process evolves exciting creative opportunities often turn up when least expected. I have found that through lots of hard work, perseverance and keeping an open mind that the rewards are in working with the wood, rather than against it.
My hope and intent is to incorporate or echo natures flowing lines and patterns into my work, and view each piece as stepping stones on a journey of self discovery and improvement.
